Everyone can use @elonmusk's "Magic Wand Number" and "Idiot Index"
They're universal ideas, helpful in any industry.
Eric Jorgenson highlights two Elon/SpaceX-style first-principles heuristics worth stealing: estimate the theoretical floor for a thing if you could arrange the atoms or essential inputs perfectly (the "magic wand number"), then compare reality against that floor to expose absurd markup, process waste, or organizational drag (the "idiot index"). Useful because it turns vague optimization talk into a concrete question: what part of this system is genuinely constrained by physics, and what part is just inherited bullshit?
